Caligramas was a series of paintings executed during the pandemic produced by the COVID-19 virus.
The series is inspired by the street letters of graffiti, which have been the input of my work as a graffiti writer for 20 years. In this work my intention is to turn words into images, and in that sense my exercise was to construct paintings that play between the dichotomy: image-word and word-image.
I chose to paint these small formats because they allow a very intimate approach with the letters and the viewer to feel the delicacy of the expression of graffiti, which are sometimes undervalued by the noise and visual pollution of the city.
